In release 220.127.116.11.0 of Oracle BI Cloud the interface has been significantly reworked and navigating to “My Dashboard” isn’t as clear as it was. In previous releases and the current tutorial exercises you could click on the “My Dashboard” link under “Dashboards” and be directed straight to a dashboard named “My Dashboard” and saved in the “My Folder” directory in the Catalog. If it didn’t already exist it was created for you and you could edit it from there.
I failed to find a convenient equivalent of this navigation path in the current release. I also didn’t have a dashboard already called “My Dashboard” in the “My Folder” directory in the Catalog. After
wrestling dancing with it for a while I found this easy workaround.
Navigate to “My Account” and set the Starting Page to “My Dashboard”. Then all you need to do is log out and log back in again.
When you log in for the first time you’ll be directed to the page and be ready to start configuring it. What ever you do don’t try and create your own new dashboard called “My Dashboard” and save it to the correct location. It caused an unexpected error for me and created a bit of a mess.
When you create a new Dashboard and save it to a location in the Catalog that location controls the accessibility of the dashboard. For more information on where to save dashboards check out the oracle documentation here.
Hopefully in future releases navigating to My Dashboard will be easy and you won’t even need this workaround.
